The Grateful Dead
Guitar Fundamentals
Strum your favorite Grateful Dead songs in less than 10 minutes a day
Get Instant AccessIf you wanna confidently strum and jam along to your 10 favorite Grateful Dead songs (in less than just 10 minutes per day)...
Then this brand new Guitar Fundamentals course will show you how.
You see, this Grateful Dead Fundamentals course was created because of a very, very important reason...
After teaching hundreds of guitar students in-person, I noticed that they all had something in common when they first started lessons with meâŠ
Something that I really didnât want to be true:
Most of them could NOT play a single song from start to finish.
Maybe they knew dozens of different riffs, fancy chords, or advanced scalesâŠ
But they just couldnât play a 3-minute song all the way through.
Now look, I love jamming and improvising as much as the next Dead-headâŠ
But just like authors write books and filmmakers make films...
Musicians play SONGS.
If you wanna jam with other musicians, you gotta know songs.
If you wanna perform live for an audience, you gotta know songs.
Thereâs an immense value in learning songs and Iâm going to show you exactly how I approach this important task.
The great thing about the guitar is that once you understand a few basic techniques, youâre already on your way to playing literally thousands of songs.
And I can guarantee that if you follow this new course consistently, youâll be amongst the very few who can play 10 full songs from start to finish.
And thatâs something to be proud of.
If youâre ready to finally start playing songs from beginning to end, then you can get instant access below...
Does your practice routine look like this?
- You pick up your guitar and pop on a 10-minute Youtube video lessonâŠ
- Then shift to learning one of your favorite songs from tabsâŠ
- Then switch to figure out a song by ear, get overwhelmed, give upâŠ
- Then noodle around for 20 minutes...
Â
All while hours can go by without really accomplishing anything?
I do think thereâs a big value in using the guitar as your expression and just noodling aroundâŠ
However, the âpractice routineâ above is not going to help you jam with other musicians, write better solos, record music, or otherwise.
Instead, itâs better to start with small, achievable goals for just 5-10 minutes per day.
And thatâs why I decided to create The Grateful Dead Guitar Fundamentals.
The goal is to get you to play 10 new songs in just 5-10 minutes per day
- It doesnât matter if youâve never played a complete song beforeâŠ
- Doesnât matter if you donât know scales or strumming patternsâŠ
- And it doesn't matter what kind of guitar you have.
This video course will slowly walk you through 10 popular Grateful Dead songs - covering the chords, strumming patterns, scales, and riffs involved.
I designed this course for âbeginnerâ guitar players⊠but really itâs for anyone who wants to add 10 new songs to their repertoire.
This caters to different skill levels because each song covers 3 different levels - each with slightly more complexity.
âI used to struggle to make solos sound like anything, now I can play through âSugareeâ with the vocal melody, and it sounds great.â
Doug T

âYouâre going to come to a point where you choose a faster path or a slower path. The Grateful Dead Guitar Fundamentals is the faster path, period.â

Before I share more, let me introduce myself:

My name is Jeff Williams.Â
Iâm a musician and guitar teacher with a BA in Music from Westfield State University, with a concentration in Jazz Studies on guitar.Â
Over the years, Iâve played hundreds of shows, with dozens of bands, in a handful of different genres.
Nowadays, my real passion is teaching guitar and creating YouTube videos.
Over the last 20 years, Iâve taught hundreds of students online and in-person.Â
Through my experience, I've  learned how to provide students with the guidance, structure, and support they need to maximize their growth and achieve their guitar goals as quickly as possible.
Iâm so proud to have helped guitarists overcome their limiting beliefs, be more expressive, and have more fun.
And Iâm very grateful to consistently receive positive testimonials, reviews, and video comments from all of my students.Â
But it wasnât always this wayâŠ
I used to struggle with chords, solos, jamming with others, learning new songs, and so much more.
Sometimes I felt as if Iâd never improve.
I would play the guitar for hours and hours on endâŠ
Play boring and repetitive scales until late into the evening.
And wouldnât stop until blisters made it too painful to play.
⊠All without ever feeling like I was making any sort of real progress.
Iâm embarrassed to say Iâve even had music teachers pull me aside and give me harsh criticism on my playing⊠which at the time completely crushed me.
But music was my passion and I was determined to get better
So I studied my favorite guitarists who had already achieved what I wanted to too.
I looked up to guys like Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, David Gilmour, Trey Anastasio, Duane Allman, and others.
And it wasn't until I learned a few dozen songs from beginning to end, that I realized just how valuable this was.
This taught me the discipline to finish a task, the understanding of song structure, the ability to easily jam with others, and so much more.
And after seeing so many beginner students skip this step of learning complete songs, I knew I needed to create a course around it...
And so, the âGrateful Dead Fundamentalsâ course was born!
I decided to create a series of courses exploring the most fundamental parts of playing guitar - learning songs.
This course goes over the nuts and bolts of popular Grateful Dead songs including the chords, strumming patterns, riffs, and scales.
Learning complete songs is a valuable for you whether you want to write original music, play covers, or just jam and improvise.

What songs are included and why?
I decided to choose these 10 classic Grateful Dead songs to include in this course...
- Fire on the mountain
- Franklinâs tower
- They love each other
- Sugaree
- Casey jones
- Althea
- Bertha
- Truckinâ
- Friend of the devil
- Touch of grey
I chose these because theyâre some of the most well-known and popular Grateful Dead songsâŠ
They're played a lot by many musicians too, meaning you can always find people to jam with...
And they represent different guitar difficulty levels as well.
Each song above includes 3 video lessons, going from simple to more complex.
Here's a little sneak peek into the course...
Â
- The first video of Fire on the Mountain breaks down the song structure, which is essentially just 2 chords. Youâll get the simplest version of the chords and rhythm so you can start jamming along right away.
- The second video for this song covers how to decipher the strumming pattern, what scale to use, and how you can start improvising.Â
- The third video will get into the more advanced chords, how to approach creating the right strumming patterns, and how to further apply this scale to solo over.
This isn't meant to cover every single note played in the song, instead give you the big-picture concepts to start playing it as soon as possible.
Each of the 10 songs includes 3 lesson videos each that get gradually more complex.

But they havenât only helped meâŠ
My guitar courses have helped dozens of my students overcome obstacles:
Luke
âBreaking out each device and covering it separately with examples really helped me understand the structure behind Jerry's style and helped me connect it musically. Itâs an Incredibly well put together courseâ.
Karl V
âI really learned a lot about Jerry Garcia's styles and how they speak with different types of songs. I gained a whole new appreciation of Jerry as a guitar player and artist.
Some of the more esoteric devices featured on the song Dark Star were completely new and surprising to me. A totally different groove.â
Jeremy L
âThe course is easily digestible yet challenging. Itâs much more organized than anything Iâve learned on YouTube and I really enjoyed the backing tracks."
Brendan J
âYour motto, less is more, has enabled me to not play my guitar. When I commune with my instrument, it's therapy at this point.
You in this single video, opened that door I've been trying to for years: how to get the emotions and music in my mind to flow through my hands and out of my body without having to give it much thought.â
